Health & Wellbeing is not just about doctors and hospitals it's also about supportive communities and empowered educated patients. How can these work together?
Uplift Time Credits
Fusing the expertise of the Young Foundation in capacity building in communities and innovation in health and social care with the experience of Spice in the successful creation of time credit schemes in highly disadvantaged communities we are creating a bespoke time credit scheme for health and social care UpLift
UpLift Time Credits engage people in communities who are socially isolated and in particular, older people, and those with long term ill-health. The credits enable participants to contribute time as well as receive support, so that they are not cast as 'throw away' people but instead as valued assets in their communities and as co-delivers of health and social care. Reciprocity is the currency of wellbeing.
UpLift Time Credits enables citizens, to connect with each other, to facilitate care-based 'credit' exchanges. UpLift provides individuals with, opportunities to develop interests and utilise their as yet unrealised personal assets to build strong and connected communities. Uplift does this by seeking out and encouraging individuals with health and social care needs to both receive customised support but also to contribute to the community utilising their skills and interests. In reciprocation, for giving in this way, individuals are thanked with credits that enable access to cultural and leisure services to develop new networks and improve wellbeing
